Why bother?

It has been a few bad months health wise. Fatigue and fever have plagued my year. I think I felt normal for about 10 days so far this year. I wanted to blame something or someone. So Veganism was an easy target, if only I ate some meat I would feel better.

I knew better and stuck with my diet but had an exit strategy in mind. If my next blood test wasn’t better than the previous one I would explore adding animal proteins to my diet. Well the results came back and I had great and even improved results in my usual points of interest. The problems I was having in feeling so run down were clearly visible in my blood panel. My white blood counts were out of whack indicating an infection.

Luckily for my gut flora I wasn’t prescribed antibiotics but rather doses of B,C, and D vitamins. A second blood test proved my doctor was correct and I am improving ( based on the data ).

Data and science got me in to a plant based diet. I fortunately relied on it to help me stay the course. It would have been pretty easy to throw in the towel and revert back to a traditional diet. I can only encourage those who doubt the benefits of a plant based diet to not only rely on feeling it. Get your blood tested see for yourself if you are deficient. I wasn’t lacking anything I was just infected.
